NO PAJAMAS

NO PAJAMAS
Kevin Ridgeway

quarters stick to my body
leeches that I will
never spend,
sucking the worth
out of my
embattled flesh,
and kerplunk!
they’re at my
feet in the shower
as I
wash away
the sins from
last night
the tally adding
up to
two-dollars
and
twenty-five cents

No pajamas
the clothes
from the
day before,
or naked,
bleeding
and the
stink rises
in the shower
steam
and out
the bathroom
window
and the
sounds of
my loud
boom box
rock n roll
for
the neighbors
to enjoy

  1. MM welcomes Misfit Kevin. I thought this poem was ideal for a Sunday morning.

  2. At least you wore pyjamas, can’t have been too bad. Nice poem!

  3. Like this one

  4. Kevin living through the pants of a pajama familiarity pulls up one leg at a time, goes through his pockets and finds the crown jewels in his remarkable poetry by his basket of
quarters fallen in the shower of his own obscurity the night after his flesh was embattled.
Welcome, Kevin to the human race against death, time, sex, love, and money which do not last as all real poets realize.Thank you for your discovery of NO PAJAMAS,like the Emperor’s clothes eventually wear out everyman and every woman.
