GRIEF’S SHAPES

GRIEF’S SHAPES
Valentina Cano

Healing, that’s what
I wished I could have seen
in your eyes.
Their bulge stretched,
wet with the fierceness
of a rubber ball bounced on a
drenched pavement.
I fought with myself and with you,
for a moment I could hold,
a pressed handkerchief of seconds
that wouldn’t unstitch in my hands.
It never happened.
Nothing healed.

  1. MM welcomes Valentina with this powerful piece of work.

  2. nice…

  3. A pop-shot at life’s miniscule happenings as seen through Valentina’s eyes than our own.

  4. I like the simplicity of ‘nothing healed’. Good poem!

  5. Asture observation. We most often are fighting with ourselves when we fight with others.

  6. I like Larry Schug’s comment about this poem, and will be thinking about it today. An interesting idea to ponder.

  7. This poem makes me think that the grief discussed in the poem was over something pretty devastating. You can really feel what the poet is feeling, and you don’t want to feel what the grief-struck person is feeling!

  8. Loved how you shaped grief with words.
