Jeffrey Park

When you set my food
on the floor
like I’m one of your damned cats
I am demeaned.
You can read this in
the stiffening of my shoulders.

It’s tasty though
and I’ll eat it all up and lick
out the bowl
but I’ll nurse my resentment
all right.
It’ll be cold nights for you
this winter.

  1. The last of Jeffrey’s current batch of submissions, no pun intended.

  2. A surprising catnip poem by Jeffrey with the ironic contrivances of limiting humor yet down to earth that never approaches a rant of manner, with a subtle laxity of achieved purpose, with a comity of intertwined sensibility and easy affability which makes of “Dignity Assaulted” clearly comprehensible.
