Daytime moon over downtown Los Angeles:
something big is going to happen tonight.

I plan to hide in the hedge
but instead I wait for dusk
then enter the city with a gun.

Seven blocks to perdition,
I fire at psychotic planes deranging clouds,
bombing towers to the ground;
I fire at demons sucking souls through manholes, at
ghouls ripping tendons off bones.

“Giant times!”
“Giant times!”
I cry to the infernal sky.

And the ashes of my world
flutter by like bats.
