ANIMAL MAGNETISM

One noticed right away
he had a certain
animal magnetism.
Perhaps it was the flattened
bodies
of small animals
plastered all over his surface
ripped away
from their simple lives
by an irresistible force of nature
spattered across his
thighs and
buttocks
like radiator grill butterflies.
He took it all in stride
flicked at them
when he thought no one
was looking,
rolled his marble eyes as if to say
attractive is
as attractive does.
